ABOUT US

Inspiration/History

The Friends of Adult Day Health Care Centers supports the services provided by the Poway Adult Day Health Care Center as well as other centers in San DiegoCounty.  It is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that supports the programs of licensed adult day health care centers through community outreach and education.  It also supplements the basic state required services through additional transportation, scholarships, and enhanced programming.  Since 2003 when it was first incorporated, the “Friends” has received grants from the County of San Diego, from private foundations, and from the San Diego Association of Governments.  These grants have made it possible to implement forums, counseling for caregivers, and innovative programs for the PowayCenter’s participants.  The most recent senior mini grant, TransMed, provides nonemergency medical transportation for low income seniors.  Since the “Friends” is a nonprofit organization, donations are tax deductible.
